Wonderful Wye Walk
Take a walk along one of the rare chalk streams of the Chilterns.
The river Wye starts near West Wycombe and flows for 10 miles through High Wycombe, Loudwater and Wooburn. The relatively short, winterbourne stream hosts a high variety of wildlife, from invertebrates to fish, and brown trout can be seen swimming and feeding in the fast-flowing clear water. The Chiltern Rangers, the Chiltern Chalk Streams Project, the Revive the Wye and other community groups and volunteers, all help look after its precious habitat and implement conservation work.
The river was in past the centre of a busy, industrial life. With a long history of grinding wheat and flour to make bread and making high quality paper, dozens of watermills dotted the river and contributed to make High Wycombe a prosperous place to live and thrive.
