Temporary Rivers and Streams meeting

Temporary Rivers and Streams meeting

On 20th June, Hannah Parry-Wilson, Citizen Science Co-ordinator Chilterns Chalk Streams Project and Allen Beechey, Chilterns Chalk Streams Project Manager, attended the annual Temporary Rivers and Streams meeting at Nottingham Trent University.

Organised by Dr Rachel Stubbington, the meeting brings together students, academics and practitioners from across Europe to share the latest research on temporary rivers and streams and showcase practical restoration projects.  Research on chalk stream winterbournes was a focus of many of this year’s talks and the Chilterns chalk streams featured heavily.

Hannah and Allen gave a presentation on our restoration project on the Hamble Brook near Hambleden and what the data that our citizen science team has been collecting is telling us about how the restored river is functioning.
